Ending the Week Duck Links: Ducks Ranked #3, LSU OC Steps Down, Harrington Released from Hospital

As we finish up this week there are a few notable stories around the web. Aaron Fentress, of the Oregonian, reports on Joey Harrington’s condition after he was hit by an SUV in SE Portland.

The Ducks received their highest pre-season ranking in the USA Today Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. They are ranked at No. 3 going into this season, just behind Oklahoma and Alabama. LSU received the No. 4 spot – this all just makes the Ducks’ opener against LSU that much more exciting.

Today Les Miles announced that their Offensive Coordinator, Steve Kragthorpe, has Parkinson’s disease and will step down from the position. This is very sad news and our thoughts are with him and his family. As the USA Today article reports, Kragthrope will still be involved in the program to coach quarterbacks.

Bob Clark of the Register Guard reported on a few former Ducks who have been selected for induction to the Oregon Sports hall of fame. Former Oregon head football coach Rich Brooks and former track/field star Kelly Blair LaBounty were announced this week as two of those selections. Congratulations!
