Oregon Ducks Civil War Preview

The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team will gear up for a Civil War battle today at 2:00 PM PT, and they will look to get vengeance over the Oregon State Beavers. The last time the bitter rivals met earlier this season, OSU took over at the end of the game and finished with a 67-60 victory. The 6-9 Oregon Ducks will not want a repeat of that against their 8-7 rivals at the Matt Court.

Amanda Johnson, Nia Jackson, and Jasmin Holliday are three seniors who have given all they could to the Oregon Ducks over their college careers. All three of them are among the top players in the conference, and Johnson is one of the best in the country. They will all be playing their last home game of their careers, and it will be an emotional day for all of them. It’s time for the Oregon Ducks to help pay them back and give them a big rivalry win to hang their heads on. They deserve it after what they have done for this team.

Ali Gibson is the Beavers highest points scorer, and she averages 12.2 points per game, 2.2 steals per game, 2.5  assists per game, and 4.2 rebounds per game. She tore apart the Oregon Ducks in the first Civil War battle of the season, and she is capable of doing this again.

Earlysia Marchbanks is not a player to sleep on, as she averages 12-7 each game and nets about two steals and four assists per contest. She needs to be more careful with the ball and turns the ball over three times per game, but Marchbanks is certainly a talented player who can make things happen.

The rugged interior for the Oregon State Beavers, Patricia Bright is a defensive star who blocks 3.5 shots per game and averages about nine points as well. Bright is able to corral five rebounds on average and shoot 58% from the floor. She can contain Amanda Johnson to a certain degree, and she can also put up points on offense.

As said before, Jackson, Johnson, and Holliday will be excellent in their final home game and get behind the crowd for a big game against their biggest rivals. However, the key role players will also do their share in this game.

Deanna Weaver is one of the better three point shooters in the conference, Jordan Loera is a solid shooter who can play quality defense on the perimeter, and Liz Brenner is a strong rebounder and a solid scoring option off the bench. Those three will do their part to help the Oregon Ducks beat the Beavers and give their big three the proper farewell they deserve.
