Oregon Ducks lose Civil War

The Oregon State Beavers completed the season sweep of the Civil War against the Oregon Ducks in a 68-53 game, but the Ducks were leading until there were about 11 minutes left in the second half. From then on, stars Patricia Bright and Earlysia Marchbanks took over for a combined 25 points during that time period. The Beavers went on an 18-1 scoring run after being down 40-32 to switch the lead to 50-41 in their favor.

Neither team shot well from the floor, as the Oregon Ducks were horrific with a 29.7 eFG%, and the Beavers 42 eFG% is nothing to write home about either. At least Oregon State hit their free throws and went 26-28 down the line, and center Patricia Bright hit all eight of her shots from the charity stripe. Earlysia Marchbanks received 14 free throw opportunities in the final five minutes and knocked down 12 of them (13-15 in the game).

Although Marchbanks had a game-high 19 points, she also had a game-high 7 turnovers, and OSU turned it over 20 times (11 by the Oregon Ducks) yesterday.  That was mainly thanks to 14 steals from the Ducks, including three from seniors Amanda Johnson and Nia Jackson and two from Jasmin Holliday, Ariel Thomas, and Lexi Peterson.

Jasmin Holliday went 1-7 from the floor, with her only field goal being a three-pointer in a disappointing final home game. Nia Jackson only managed 7 points and shot 25% from the floor, while Amanda Johnson was just 33% from the floor despite her 29th career double-double. Johnson and Ariel Thomas both tied for a team-high 13 points, and Thomas went 36% from the floor. This wasn’t the sending off that these three deserved, as the Oregon Ducks were ran out of their own court against their bitter rivals.
