Keon Pledger receives offers
A member of the 2009 recruiting class, Keon Pledger was once regarded as one of the best 60 guards in the nation and a solid prospect overall. The 6’3″ guard never qualified academically and has instead been playing at SBVB in JUCO. The shooting guard redshirted and has two more seasons of eligibility left, which is two seasons of solid play at the position.
Yesterday, seven teams- including the Oregon Ducks- sent offers to Keon Pledger. The other six teams were Arizona, St. John’s, Marquette, USC, Baylor and Oklahoma. The SBVC SG is keeping his options open right now, and the Ducks would love to add Pledger. They need a guard with the losses of Devoe Joseph and Garrett Sim next season, so it is imperative that they bring in a guy who can feasibly start for them next season.
As a freshman in JUCO, Keon Pledger was the league MVP after averaging 18 points, 3.4 boards, 2.7 dimes, and 1.7 thefts per game. Those are great all-around numbers, and he projects as a solid 17 PER player on a Division I school. The Ducks could use that production going forward, but they will have to beat out some top recruiting programs. The Big East is always a top destination for recruits, with St. John’s having some big success recently. And of course, Sean Miller has built a recruiting power in Arizona. We’ll see what happens, but hopefully the Ducks end up with this talent SG for a couple of seasons. Keon Pledger has a nice 3-ball in his repertoire, and that would be a huge plus for Oregon.
