Looking at the Oregon Ducks 2014 Football Offers

facebooktwitterreddit

The Oregon Ducks currently have six offers out to recruits in the 2014 class.  They had an additional offer out to running back Stanley Williams of Monroe, Georgia but he committed to the University of Georgia on July 15th.  The current offers feature six different states; Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey and New York.

The highest ranked recruit that holds an Oregon offer is safety Laurence Jones.  Jones currently attends Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana.  Jones is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds.  247Sports.com ranks him the 21st best prospect nationally in the 2014 class, the third best safety and the third prospect in Louisiana.  Jones currently holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Stanford.  In 2011, Jones posted 40 tackles, five interceptions, 11 passes defended and two forced fumbles.

Malik McDowell is a defensive end from Detroit, Michigan who attends Loyola High School.  McDowell is 6-foot-7 and 296 pounds.  247Sports.com lists him as the 23rd best recruit in the country, the second highest defensive end and the top recruit in Michigan.  Besides Oregon, McDowell has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and Syracuse.  As a junior, McDowell registered 67 tackles with 12.5 sacks.  He recovered three fumbles as well.

The Ducks are looking at two prospects on the opposite coast in Jay Hayes and Jonathan Hilliman.  Hayes is a 6-foot-5, 270 pound defensive tackle/offensive guard from Poly Prep High School in Brooklyn, New York.  Hayes currently holds offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Connecticut, Maryland, Syracuse, Temple and UCLA.

Hilliman is a 6-foot-1, 210 pound running back from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, NJ.  Last season, he rushed for 426 yards with four touchdowns on 58 carries.  Hilliman holds offers from Boston College, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, UCF and Wisconsin.

It seems as though the Ducks want to get bigger on the offensive line with their pursuit of mammoth offensive tackle Orlando Brown.  Brown stands at 6-foot-8 and weighs 360 pounds.  Brown attends Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia.  The lineman currently has 22 offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC to name a few.

Vincent Jackson is an outside linebacker/tight end from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida that has offers from 27 schools.  Jackson stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 235 pounds.  He had 62 tackles with eight sacks as a junior.  Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, USC and West Virginia are some of the many schools trying to get Jackson into their program.
