Pac-12 Football Recap – Week One

After each weekend of Pac-12 play we’ll look at how things turned out for the conference of champions.

Oregon and Southern Cal put up 57 and 49 points each the first week but it was Arizona State throwing up 63 points that was the high total. Here are the results of how each game went after the opening weekend of Pac-12 conference football.

Thursday, August 30
Northern Colorado (0-1) 0 @ Utah (1-0) 41 – Jordan Wynn went 19-of-27 for 200 yards throwing for 200 yards as the Utes blanked the Bears to open the season.

UCLA (1-0) 49 @ Rice (0-1) 24 – The Bruins had 646 yards of total offense (303 passing/343 rushing) against the Owls but lost in the shuffle was 2-for-11 on third down.

Washington State (0-1) 6 @ BYU 30 (1-0) – This game was highly anticipated with Mike Leach returning to his alma mater, BYU, but Wazzu struggled on both sides of the ball.

Northern Arizona (0-1) 6 @ Arizona State (1-0) 63 – ASU kicked off the Todd Graham era with a balanced offensive performance in defeating their in-state FCS opponent.

Friday, August 31
San Jose State (0-1) 17 @ 21 Stanford (1-0) 20 – David Shaw’s team raced out to a 14-0 lead on their South Bay neighbors the Spartans but survived by three points.

Saturday, September 1
Nevada (1-0) 31 @ California (0-1) 24 – Cal trailed by 14 points twice in the game and tied the game up midway in the fourth quarter before the Wolfpack scored the winning TD with 36 second left.

Colorado State (1-0) 22 @ Colorado (0-1) 17 – It was 14-9 at the half in favor of Colorado, Jared Roberts of the Rams made two field goals in the final quarter for the win.

Hawai’i (0-1) 10 @ 1 Southern California (1-0) 49 – Marqise Lee caught a 75-yard touchdown on the opening play of the game from Matt Barkley and the Trojans never looked back.

Toledo (0-1) 17 @ Arizona (1-0) 24 F/OT – John Bonano probably was the most relieved Wildcat on the field following the ‘Cats 24-17 OT win against Toledo after missing a FG at the end of regulation.

San Diego State (0-1) 12 @ Washington (1-0) 21 – Keith Price threw for 222 yards on 25-of-35 passing but the oddest stat might’ve been the Huskies outgained the Aztecs by one yard, 328-327.

Arkansas State (0-1) 34 @ 5 Oregon (1-0) 57 – This game was over before it began with the Ducks speed running circles around the Red Wolves with the Ducks putting up 605 yards of offense.

Nicholls State @ Oregon State PPD – Due to Hurricane Isaac the Colonels couldn’t make the cross country trip and a rescheduled date hasn’t been mentioned.
