Oregon Ducks Football Recruiting: Matt Wogan on official visit

Yesterday, 2013 kicker Matt Wogan took his second trip to Eugene on an official visit during Oregon’s 63-14 thrashing of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. Wogan tweeted out, “Best weekend I could have asked for” early this morning. He also shared pictures of the bathroom (I laughed) and a really nice looking dinner.

Wogan tweeted that his visit to Eugene was even better the second time, so it’s great to hear that one of the most prized kickers loved his official trip to Oregon. He is one of the most powerful kicking prospects that I’ve seen and is known as “Mr. Touchback”.

Although Oregon was his only BCS/major offer, Wogan is clearly the second best kicker in the class with Boston College commit Michael Geiger being the only one better. Wogan blasts touchbacks with ease and is the future for the Ducks at kicker.

A three-star recruit Wogan is one of the top 40 recruits in the state of North Carolina and visited both UNC and South Carolina at points during his recruitment. In addition to camping with the Gamecocks, Wogan had two incredible camp performances at Ohio State and Tennessee before visiting Oregon and receiving an offer. Wogan has been committed to Oregon since the 26th of June and has never looked back since. His commitment to the team remains extremely strong and grew even stronger after a terrific visit.

Wogan once hit a 65-yard field goal and is probably the strongest kicker in this class. He has greatly improved his accuracy, as he used to be an inconsistent field goal kicker with mediocre accuracy. At this stage, Wogan is solid on field goals, but his biggest strength his obviously his power and ability to send the ball flying on kick-offs. All in all, a great get for Tom Osborne and the Ducks from the other coast.
