Oregon Softball(19-3) is closing in on 20 wins on the season and they have yet to play a game at home. When the Ducks Schedule came out I personally thought it was pretty tough and it has been. Oregon has played four ranked teams to start the season and before Sunday were 0-3 in losing to Florida, Oklahoma and Hawaii. The Ducks picked up a win against LSU in the finale of the Citrus Classic 10-2 to start the six game series on Friday.

Except for a fifth-inning error and two-out, sixth-inning double, frosh Cheridan Hawkins retired 18 of the 20 batters she faced in her complete game (including 15 via strikeout – second-most all-time for UO) Geoff Thurner/GoDucks.com

Oregon swept the series, the Ducks second in a row and are now on a twelve game winning streak. The Citrus Classic featured teams from throughout the country. Aside from LSU the Ducks faced and defeated LIU Brooklyn, 8-1, Boston College, 8-0, Temple, 11-4, and Michigan, 13-4.

For the weekend five Ducks hit over .500 as Redshirt Freshman Alyssa Gillespie is on a tear hitting .875 for the weekend with seven hits, two doubles and a walk. Junior Shortstop Courney Ceo hit .632 for the eight game series in Florida with twelve hits, two home runs, four RBI’s, two walks, and she added four stolen bases.

In the Circle Oregon was led by Freshman Cheridan Hawkins. For the weekend she pitched 15 2/3 innings, struck out 29 walked two and allowed four hits. The Ducks other pitchers, including Senior Jessica Moore had ERA’s under 2 for the weekend. Moore finished the weekend adding three wins with a 1.70 ERA pitching 12.1 innings giving up 11 hits and striking out 10. Sophomore Pitcher Karissa Hovinga had a 1.40 ERA, earned a win with 10 innings pitched, 7 strikeoutss, giving up 12 hits and three walks.

Oregon has one last Tournamet before heading home to start the Pac 12 Season, a four game set in the Bayer Cropscience Classic. Other teams include San Diego State, Fresno State, Iowa State and St Mary’s.
