Oregon Women’s Basketball: Injury Plagued 4-27 Season Comes to an End in Seattle

Oregon’s Women’s Basketball team hasn’t had a lot to look forward to this season. The year began with key players being lost and Head Coach Paul Westhead looking to other sports for warm bodies to put on the floor. A disappointing 2012-2013 campaign came to a close Thursday night in the first round of the Women’s Pac 12 Tournament in Seattle. 12th seeded Oregon led the 5th seeded Huskies at the half, but could not hold on losing 69-62.

One bright spot on the Ducks this season was Freshman Jill Alleyne who had 11 points and 15 rebounds. Four sport athlete Liz Brenner also had 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Ducks. As far as what the future holds when it comes to Head Coach Paul Westhead, no one knows for sure.

Will he get another season to turn it around due to all the injuries(I somewhat feel like a broken record because injuries seem to pile up at the beginning of the season every year, at least the last few, for this team) or will he be let go?

That is now the big question facing a program that has been a pretty big underachieving team the last few seasons.
