Oregon Pitcher Tommy Thorpe Selected For 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate Team

Oregon Sophomore Lefthander Tommy Thorpe will play ball this summer for the USA Baseball Collegiate National team. For a good part of the season Thorpe has been the Ducks Friday starter and has a 2.39 ERA and a 6-4 record.

According to GoDucks.com, when he has started Friday night games he has a 1.29 ERA and is holding opposing batters to a .208 average.

The Ducks face Utah this weekend in Salt Lake City to finish out the regular season and will find out their post season fate on Sunday. Oregon will likely host an NCAA Regional next weekend at PK Park, with the possibility of a Super Regional the following weekend also in the picture. With several teams ahead of them losing, including Louisville in their conference tournament, Oregon’s RPI of 8 may be enough to get them a National Seed.

Of course a three game sweep of Utah this weekend would only help their chances.
