The Pac 12 Blog with Ted Miller on ESPN this time of year is always filled with some cool nuggets of information. Today they take a look at First year players to watch and the name for Oregon Ducks is Aloha High School Running Back Thomas Tyner.

With the departure of Kenjon Barner to the Carolina Panthers, who might I add looks pretty good in blue and black, Oregon will likely give Tyner a solid opportunity at running back in 2013. I have said earlier that he could be the starter for the Ducks come Pac 12 time, but with the amount of talent that the Ducks have at that position – don’t forget De’Anthony Thomas is also there, he could be a better fit as the 2nd or 3rd back for the offense.

We’ll see what Head Coach Mark Helfrich decides to do with this dynamic young Freshman on August 31st against Nicholls State.  For the first several games of the season I see the Ducks doing what they have done in the past in playing a lot of second and third string guys in the 2nd half. This will be the opportunity for the young players to get some solid experience in front of the Autzen crowd and work out any of those silly gametime jitters.

Miller also mentions Matt Wogan as a player to watch and I certainly agree with him. He’s the freshman kicker who will be in the fold and should get some looks and some gametime experience in 2013, considering the Ducks have had some issues with the kicking position the past few years.
