Kevin Gemmell from ESPN this morning did a breakdown of Future Pac 12 Power Rankings on ESPN and there is a familiar name at the top, at least for the moment. Here is what Gemmell had to say about the Ducks from this morning’s ESPN Pac 12 Blog:

"We’re still waiting to hear on whatever sanctions might come down from the NCAA. If they are harsh, Oregon could easily slip from this spot. If not, the chain of succession from coach to coach has been silky in Eugene the past few go-arounds. As long as the Ducks continue to bring in — and develop — the types of athletes they have in recent years, they will consistently stay atop the rankings."

In reading what Rob Moseley from the Register Guard wrote yesterday concerning the Ducks hearing from the NCAA it seems as though as the days go by the pins and needles we’re all sitting on are getting a little sharper by the day that things remain quiet on the ‘possible sanctions’ front. Once the perverbial stuff hits the fan so to speak, Oregon has 15 days to appeal according to Moseley. He says the earliest Oregon would hear from the NCAA at this point would be Monday – the media and everyone else would get word on Tuesday.

Back to the ‘Rankings’ – if the Ducks do have some ‘issues’ to deal with, Stanford, UCLA, and Washington, according to the Pac 12 Blog all wait in the wings to take over the top spot.

I personally believe that the Washington game this year could be closer than in years past – at least in the first half.
