Pac 12 Media Day in California started out right for the Ducks. The media chose Oregon over Stanford and UCLA to win the conference title in 2013. The Ducks received 14 of 25 first place votes and finished just ahead of Stanford.

In the media session on the main stage a now seasoned Marcus Mariota was available for questions and ready to talk, but it appears that no one wanted to talk to him. The center of attention was Oregon Head Coach Mark Helfrich, who has taken over for the departed Chip Kelly now with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Helfrich talked about how things would be the same, but different.

"“We want to score, we don’t care the method.”"

Some of the return players were also mentioned in the 15 minute session including playmaker De’Anthony Thomas and his role this season which he said is to be determined. The rivalry with the USC Trojans also came up and players said they were disappointed to not be facing them in the ‘regular season’, but there was always the possibility in the Pac 12 Championship Game.

Oregon kicks off the 2013 season on August 31st vs Nicholls State (1pm, Fox Sports 1) at Autzen Stadium.
