LinkedUp: Mariota and Thomas Deemed Worthy of Heisman Trophy in 2013
Thomas among two to watch for Oregon when it comes to the Heisman Trophy This Season.
When it comes to awards there are plenty, but one award reigns high above the others, and the Alumni even have a house they share(at least in ‘Commercial’ life).
Two names from the Oregon Ducks have made a good deal of Preseason Watch Lists for the Heisman Trophy. Both Quarterback Marcus Mariota and De’Anthony Thomas showed last year what the Ducks can do.
HeismanPundit.com puts Mariota right behind Ohio State Quarterback Braxton Miller in the Heisman Race. Thomas has made the ‘Others to Watch’ list.
The folks over at Athlon Sports also have a list – 2013 Preseason Top 25 Heisman Trophy Candidates. De’Anthony Thomas begins the season listed at #14 while Mariota is behind Braxton Miller(#1), but ahead of JaDeveon Clowney(#3), Johnny Manziel(#7), and Stanford Quarterback Kevin Hogan(#16).
One thing I have mentioned before is this year there are a lot of 2nd year Quarterbacks (3rd if you look at their redshirt year), including both Mariota and Miller. The quarterback battle will be a fun one to watch across college football this fall.
