Oregon Ducks vs Cal: Three Things We Should See

The California Golden Bears bring a Quarterback with an arm(and he can throw it around), into Autzen Stadium when new head coach Sonny Dykes meets the Ducks on Saturday Night. Oregon also has a Signal caller who knows how to throw the football in Sophomore Marcus Mariota – he did it to the tune of over 400 yards vs Tennessee a few weeks back. With the weather being shall we say misty…possibly very misty at Autzen for the game(keep in mind it never rains there) I will have to write accordingly.

Oregon Will Have 3 Players with 100 Yards or More for the Game

Be it through the air or on the ground, when you have a Defense with injuries as the Bears have the Ducks will find a way to exploit the situation. Names to look for include Wide Receiver Josh Huff, Tight Ends Johnny Mundt and Colt Lyerla(if not with flu like symptoms), Running Backs Byron Marshall, and of course De’Anthony Thomas.

Who Wants Tickets to the Air Show?

Regardless of the weather I expect that both teams will air it out in the evening air at Autzen. When you have two Quarterbacks who have passed for close to 700 yards of offense combined in a game on average, the question becomes how nuts is this game going to be?

In decent weather the aerial bombardment could easily hit 650 yards combined, but with the deluge they are predicting I still think we’ll get a show. Goff and Mariota could combine for over 500 yards through the air on Saturday.

Will the Real Ifo (Ekpre Olomu) Please Stand Up?

The Oregon Defense has been pretty solid through three games, but who have they really faced in the way of competition. Not much if you ask me. This will be the first test for the Ducks D and I believe that the Junior Cornerback will get his first interception of the season. (it seems odd that he has yet to pick one off in 2013, but he has made tackles when they were needed.)
