Multiple sources, including the Oregonian’s Andrew Greif are reporting that Saturday night was an even better night for the Oregon Ducks football team. Aside from the win Oregon also received a big commitment from Running Back Recruit Tony James(Gainsville(Fla.) High.)

A little more about James – not only does he have a very cool last name, but he was also on the lists at some other schools including some in the SEC. He had scholarship offers from Florida, UCLA, Georgia Tech and Miami according to the report.

Rivals has listed James as the fourth best Running Back recruit in the 2014 class. He joins another Running Back recruit in Royce Freeman, who also gave Oregon a verbal commitment. Of course verbals are not binding and National Signing Day in February which has become a pretty big deal in Eugene, especially last year with a new head coach in Mark Helfrich and potential sanctions hanging over head. With Helfrich settling into his new digs at the Hatfield-Dowlin complex and the NCAA being more harsh on former coach Chip Kelly, Oregon can let the product speak for itself.

James is from Florida and will likely be Oregon’s farthest traveled recruit come February. When it comes to impressing young potential talent to come to Eugene the new sports facility is usually a good place to start. Oregon’s latest recruit was very impressed with the new facility but was also impressed by Oregon’s performance on the field against Cal.

Tony James is 5 foot 9 inches tall and 175 pounds. He plans to enroll at the U of O in June 2014.
