It was  a record setting night for Washington State Quarterback Connor Halliday, but his team was on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

Oregon got off to a quick start against Washington State putting the first 13 points on the board with a run by Marcus Mariota followed by a run by Byron Marshall. Washington State was able to pass the ball. Apparently it was the only thing they could do. Connor Halliday set the new Autzen Stadium record for pass attempts in a game. One was 57 by Ty Detmer back in 1990. Another was number of plays by a QB, Halliday had 69 plays with 13 minutes left in the game breaking a record from 1969. He also broke the Pac 12 Record for pass attempts with 71 and set the record for pass completions with 46 at the 6:36 mark in the 4th quarter.

Washington State kept things interesting in the first half due to Oregon’s inability to keep the ball. Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota had three fumbles in the first half, including two that were run back by the Cougars for Touchdowns. At the half WSU was only down 10 as Kicker Andrew Furney hit a 49 yard field goal to end the half. 34-24 was the score.

In the second half Oregon came out firing and added a touchdown with a 7 play 80 yard drive and Keanon Lowe catching the ball from Mariota. That took the wind out of the sails for the Cougars. So did Halliday’s interception by Oregon’s Derrick Malone. The Duck Defense clamped down in the second half against Washington State. Both teams combined for over 1000 yards on Offense at Autzen Stadium in front of another sellout crowd.

"Our culture around here is always one play at a time…The coaches really just kept my head in it. I understand  it’s in the past and I can’t change it or anything like that…the coaches were able to help me and we were able to be successful in the second half.Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota on the Ducks Turnovers in the First Half."

Washington State’s Halliday threw 4 interceptions vs Oregon adding to his total of 13 before the game. He now has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns this season. For the game Marcus Mariota was 23-of-32 for  327 yds and  2 Touchdowns He also had  8 rushing attempts for  67 yards and a TD. It is the 9th straight game of at least 1 passing and rushing Touchdown for the Oregon signal caller. He is  now 2nd in the record books behind Tim Tebow (14) since 1998.

Oregon next hosts UCLA next Saturday at 4pm PT on ESPN.
