PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap (Week 9)

Oregon (8-0, 5-0 PAC-12) and Stanford (7-1, 5-1 PAC-12) both were victorious before taking a week off for their showdown in Palo Alto on Thursday, November 7. While the top teams are known after nine weeks, the rest of the conference isn’t to be forgotten due to the depth of the league. Here’s the rest of what happened around the PAC-12 Conference this weekend and out recap.

Arizona won 44-20 at Colorado with the Wildcats running back Ka’Deem Carey scoring four times against the Buffs.

Saturday, October 26 –

Utah Utes (4-4, 1-4 PAC-12) 3 @ Southern California (5-3, 2-2 PAC-12) 19: Not the prettiest of football games to watch but USC did what they needed to in picking up their second post-Lane Kiffin victory. The Trojans defense held the Utah to 201 yards of total offense with 130 coming through the air. Cody Kessler threw for 230 yards with a TD, impressive given USC had 260 yards total in the game. Next Game for Utah – November 9 v. Arizona State (5-2, 3-1 PAC-12), 1 pm/PAC-12 Network. Next Game for USC – November 1 @Oregon State (6-2, 4-1 PAC-12), 6 pm/ESPN2

12 UCLA Bruins (5-2, 2-2 PAC-12) 14 @ 3 Oregon Ducks (8-0, 5-0 PAC-12) 42: We’ve seen the movie enough times in which Oregon is tied or up a touchdown then they hit their opponent with an onslaught. Tied at 14 going into the locker room the Ducks outscored the Bruins 28-0 in the second half putting up 555 yards of offense. Marcus Mariota was 21-of-28 for 230 yards with a passing TD then picked up 18 yards on the ground. Byron Marshall scored three touchdowns while putting up 133 yards on just 19 carries. UCLA’s Brett Hundley was held to 64 yards passing with two interceptions, ran for 72 yards with a score. Paul Perkins led the Bruins with 93 yards on the ground in the loss. Arizona Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 PAC-12) 44 @ Colorado Buffaloes (3-4, 0-4 PAC-12) 20: Arizona turned a close contest into a laugher in the second half outscoring Colorado 20-7 in the second half. The Wildcats put up 670 yards of total offense with 405 coming on 50 rushing attempts. B.J. Danker had another big game for the UofA throwing for 265 yards with a TD and running for 192 more on 15 carries. Ka’Deem Carey got the ball 23 times rushing for 119 yards reaching the endzone four times, he also had 12 yards receiving. California Golden Bears (1-7, 0-5 PAC-12) 17 @ Washington Huskies (5-3, 2-3 PAC-12) 41: Washington needed a game to feel good about themselves again after losses at Stanford, vs Oregon and at Arizona State. Playing Cal seemed to do just that on Saturday night as Keith Price threw for 376 yards with two scores on 20-of-32 passing. Bishop Sankey put in another workman like effort getting running for 241 yards on 27 attempts scoring twice. Jaydon Mickens caught both of Price’s TD passes and caught six passes for 180 yards in the game. Jared Goff put up 336 yards passing in the defeat for the Bears with a score. Next Game for California – November 2 v. Arizona (5-2, 2-2 PAC-12), 12:30 pm/PAC-12 Network. Next Game for Washington – November 9 v. Colorado (3-4, 0-4 PAC-12), 5 pm/PAC-12 Network

6 Stanford Cardinal (7-1, 5-1 PAC-12) 20 @ 25 Oregon State Beavers (6-2, 4-1 PAC-12) 12: Stanford bounced back nicely from their defeat a week ago in Salt Lake City. The Cardinal offense did enough scoring 13 straight points after trailing by a field goal early. Tyler Gaffney put up another 100 yard day scoring three touchdowns on 22 carries for 145 yards. Oregon State got a late chance to tie down eight after a Stanford turnover by was held by the Cardinal defense. Sean Mannion had another big passing performance for the Beavers throwing 57 times for 271 yards with a score. Next Game for 5 Stanford – November 7 v. 2 Oregon (8-0, 5-0 PAC-12), 6 pm/ESPN. Next Game for Oregon State – November 1 v. USC (5-3, 2-2 PAC-12), 6 pm/ESPN2
