The Pac 12 Matchup of the Season is still more than a week away, but the folks at Sports Illustrated have decided it’s time to start talking about it. On this week’s Regional cover is Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota(to other cover this week goes to Boston and St Louis and the World Series.) It is no secret that Oregon is a monster in the Pac 12 this year, blowing out opponents, even after shooting themselves in the foot on several occasions the last few games. The team still finds a way to put up points and put out any lingering doubt of the direction they are headed.

However, the next game on the slate could make things interesting. The Stanford Cardinal welcome Oregon to the Farm next Thursday night. Many believe of Oregon can pass that test then they can get where they want to be at the end of the season. However, I am willing to take it one game at a time.

Austin Murphy wrote the cover article for this week’s Sports Illustrated and in it talks about the rise of Oregon football from the days of practicing on wet, sloppy fields to working out in the palace that is the Hatfield Dowlin Complex.

He also touches on the Oregon-Stanford rivalry. It’s a good read and should wet your appetite for the media coverage that will be building more and more as we approach November 7th.
