PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap (Week 11)

Thursday night 5 Stanford (8-1, 6-1) took down previous unbeaten 3 Oregon (8-1, 5-1) on the Farm in Palo Alto. The Cardinal now have the inside track on the PAC-North crown after their second defeat of the Ducks in as many seasons. Here’s the rest of what happened around the PAC-12 Conference this weekend and out recap.

Thursday, November 7 –

3 Oregon Ducks (8-1, 6-1 PAC-12) 20 @ 5 Stanford Cardinal (8-1, 6-1 PAC-12) 26: This game got plenty of attention and rightly so with two top five teams meeting for a midweek contest. Oregon fell into a 20-0 hole which they nearly came back from but turnovers and Stanford’s punishing run game throated the comeback. The Cardinal defense also slowed the Ducks offense down most of the game and forced two turnovers in addition to some turnover on downs. Tyler Gaffney couldn’t be stopped carrying the ball 45 times for 157 yards with a score. Kevin Hogan threw just 13 passes for 103 yards in the game on seven completions. Marcus Mariota threw two TD’s and 250 yards but had a big fumble in the second half when the Ducks were driving. Next Game for 6 Oregon – November 16 v. Utah (4-5, 1-5 PAC-12), 1 pm/FS1. Next Game for 4 Stanford – November 16 @USC (7-3, 4-2 PAC-12), 5 pm/ABC

Saturday, November 9 –

Southern California Trojans (7-3, 4-2 PAC-12) 62 @ California Golden Bears (1-9, 0-7 PAC-12) 28: USC continued their success of the last month while Cal continues to struggle this season. The Trojans had 499 yards of offense led by Javorius Allen who rushed for 135 yards on just six carries reaching the endzone twice. Ty Isaac had 87 yards rushing with two scores, Cody Kessler was 14-of-17 for 170 yards two scores. Jared Goff three TD’s and had 260 yards in the defeat. Next Game for USC – November 16 v. 4 Stanford (8-1, 6-1 PAC-12), 5 pm/ABC. Next Game for California – November 16 @Colorado (3-6, 0-6 PAC-12), 2:30 pm/PAC-12 Network

22 Arizona State Sun Devils (7-2, 5-1 PAC-12) 20 @ Utah Utes (4-5, 1-5 PAC-12) 19: Utah built a 19-7 lead before ASU stormed back for 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Marion Grice rushed for 136 yards but it was Taylor Kelly 14 yard pass with 2:37 left in the game to Richard Smith which got the Devils the win. Utah’s Dres Anderson had 100 yards receiving with a touchdown as the Utah lost another close game. Next Game for 19 Arizona State – November 16 v. Oregon State (6-3, 4-2 PAC-12), 6:30 pm/PAC-12 Network. Next Game for Utah – November @6 Oregon (8-1, 5-1 PAC-12), 1 pm/FS1

Colorado Buffaloes (3-6, 0-6) 7 @ Washington Huskies (6-3, 3-3) 59: After three straight defeats the Huskies have won three straight while the Buffaloes are looking for that first conference win. Keith Price added another 300 yard passing game this season throwing for 312 with two scores. Bishop Sankey had 23 rushes good for 143 yards with a score. Colorado hurt themselves with three turnovers, Paul Richardson had the lone score for the Buffs with 77 yards. Next Game for Colorado – November 16 v. California (1-9, 0-6 PAC-12), 2:30 pm/PAC-12 Network. Next Game for Washington – November 15 @13 UCLA (7-2, 4-2), 6 pm/ESPN2

19 UCLA Bruins (7-2, 4-2 PAC-12) 31 @ Arizona Wildcats (6-3, 3-3 PAC-12) 26: UCLA snapped a losing streak in Tucson that went back to 2003 and got offense from a freshman linebacker. Myles Jack carried the ball six times for 100 yards reaching the end zone once in addition had eight tackles on defense for the Bruins. UCLA lead by as many as 11 points in this game but needed a late interception to seal the deal. Arizona was again lead by B.J. Denker throwing for 186 yards with two passing TD’s and Ka’Deem Carey rushing for 149 yards with a touchdown but not enough in the defeat. Next Game for 13 UCLA – November 15 v. Washington (6-3, 3-3 PAC-12), 6 pm/ESPN2 . Next Game for Arizona – November 16 v. Washington State (4-5, 2-4 PAC-12), 11 am/PAC-12 Network
