PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap (Week 14)

Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona will be the site on Friday night for the 2013 PAC-12 Title Game when the No. 11 Sun Devils (10-2, 8-1 PAC-12) host defending conference champion and No. 7 Cardinal (10-2, 7-2 PAC-12). It’s the first title game for ASU and second straight for Stanford with the winner getting a trip to Pasadena for the 100th Rose Bowl Game.

Friday, November 29 –

Washington State Cougars (6-6, 4-5 PAC-12) 17 @ Washington Huskies (8-4, 5-4 PAC-12) 27: Washington State led at half of the Apple Cup but couldn’t close the deal in the final 30 minutes. The Cougs were outscored 24-7 in the second half by Washington who avenged a loss last season to their in-state rival. Bishop Sankey carried the Dawgs on his shoulders with a 34 carry day for 200 yards with a TD. Connor Halliday threw for 282 yards with two scores for Wazzu but was hurt by two interceptions. Oregon State Beavers (6-6, 4-5 PAC-12) 35 @ 13 Oregon Ducks (10-2, 7-2 PAC-12) 36: In probably the most exciting game of the weekend in the conference was Friday night with the conclusion of the Civil War. Tied at halftime the Ducks lead 24-20 heading into the final quarter when OSU scored with minute 38 remaining in the game only to see Oregon score with 29 seconds left. Marcus Mariota hit Josh Huff in the endzone late to give U of O the final lead of the game in this back-and-forth contest at Autzen. Thomas Tyner had 140 yards on 22 carries with two scores, De’Anthony Thomas had 88 yards of his own with a score. Huff caught nine passes for 186 yards plus two others TD’s including the winner. Sean Mannion had 314 yards and two scores, Terron Ward rushed for 145 yard and Brandin Cooks had 110 yards receiving in the defeat. Next Game for Oregon State – Bowl Game TBA. Saturday, November 30 –

Colorado Buffaloes (4-8, 1-8 PAC-12) 17 @ Utah Utes (5-7, 2-7 PAC-12) 24: Utah ran out to a 21-0 lead before needing to hold on against their Rocky Mountain Rival in Salt Lake City. Kelvin York rushed 31 times for 132 yards with two TD’s in the victory. Sefo Liufau capped a solid first season for Colorado throwing for 241 yards and two scores on 46 attempts but did contribute an interception for the Buffs. Next Game for Colorado – Season Completed. Next Game for Utah – Season Completed

25 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-4) 20 @ 8 Stanford Cardinal (10-2, 7-2) 27: The Stanford defense shut down Tommy Rees and the Notre Dame offense to the tune of 263 yards of offense. Tyler Gaffney again was the workhorse carrying it 33 times for 189 yards with a touchdown. Both teams QB threw two interceptions but it was the Cardinal who got more from their offense in this game. Rees finished with 199 yards passing for ND with two TD’s to go with his interceptions. Stanford looks to return to Pasadena with a win in Tempe on Friday night. 22 UCLA Bruins (9-3, 6-3 PAC-12) 35 @ 23 Southern California Trojans (9-4, 6-3 PAC-12) 14: Jim Mora and UCLA picked up their second straight win against cross town rival USC in convincing fashion. The Bruins lead wire-to-wire in impressive fashion against the Tropjans. Brett Hundley gave Southern Cal troubles with his arm and feet throwing for 208 yards in addition to running for 80 more with two scores. Javorius Allen had another 100 yard game finishing with 123 with a score for the Trojans in the loss. Next Game for 18 UCLA – Bowl Game TBA. Next Game for USC – Bowl Game TBA

Arizona Wildcats (7-5, 4-5 PAC-12) 21 @ 12 Arizona State Sun Devils (10-2, 8-1 PAC-12) 58: Both teams had over 400 yards of offense but in the end it was the PAC-South champions holding the Territorial Cup. ASU needed a win to host next week’s PAC-12 title game did so with an impressive game from all their offensive weapons. Taylor Kelly threw for 274 yards with two touchdowns, D.J. Foster had two rushing TD’s and 124 yards with Jaelen Strong caught four passes for 142 yards with a TD. Even in defeat Ka’Deem Carey put up another strong performance getting 157 yards with a touchdown but the ‘Cats couldn’t slow down the Sun Devils which wasn’t helped by four turnovers.
