It was announced on Sunday night that Oregon would be headed to San Antonio to face Texas in the Alamo Bowl on December 30th. ESPN and CNNSI have both written that the Ducks matchup with returning Quarterback Marcus Mariota has warranted a Top 10 option when it comes to ranking the bowl games.

CNNSI has the Ducks as the third best Bowl game in the Pac 12 behind the Rose Bowl(Stanford vs Michigan State) and the Sun Bowl(UCLA vs Virginia Tech).  According to the Bloggers over at ESPN Oregon is the 7th best bowl matchup for the season.

One game that I find the most intriguing, 13th on ESPN’s list is the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl on December 21st. USC will face Fresno State with both teams likely sending players to the NFL next season. Intriguing because of the little guy, big guy mentality of college sports. Can Derek Carr beat up on big bad USC, well previously thought big bad USC. The Trojans just hired a new coach in Steve Sarkisian and former coach Ed Orgeron has skipped town. Who will coach the Trojans in the game? If Sark isn’t up to the task they could always ask Ron Burgundy, that is if he is available.

Oregon and Texas take the field on Monday December 30th at 3:45pm PT on ESPN2.
