Hayward Field During the 2012 US Track and Field Olympic Trials

This past summer the University of Oregon hosted the NCAA Track and Field Championships were a success. The NCAA decided last month that Oregon was a good home for next year as well and on Wednesday made the announcement that the Ducks and Hayward Field were going to be ‘THE’ host of the event for the next eight years. For Tracktown USA this is big news.

According to the press release from the U of O, the NCAA meets give the Eugene-Springfield community an unprecedented number of high caliber events in the coming decade with the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships coming to Eugene next summer, the USA Championships on the slate for 2015 and the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials returning to TrackTown for the third consecutive time.

The announcement cements Eugene, the University of Oregon, and Hayward Field as Tracktown USA. Hayward Field will host more high profile NCAA Track and Field events over the next decade than anywhere else in the country.

"We are excited that Hayward Field will remain the dream destination for every Division I athlete and we plan to turn the NCAA Championships into the hottest ticket in the sport. University of Oregon Senior Associate Athletic Director and President of TrackTown USA Vin Lananna"
