The crowd was about a third of the amount that was here just a few hours before to watch the Oregon Men’s Basketball team beat Morgan State. Paul Westhead has his team at 9-2 on the season after the victory on Sunday evening over Cal State Northridge. Jillian Alleyne capped the contest with her 9th double double on the season. For the game she had 22 points and 19 rebounds. The scoring leader for Oregon was Chrishae Rowe who put in 26. Lexi Peterson fouled out with just over five minutes to go in the game. She finished with four points.

The smaller more intimate crowd did get loud at times but it doesn’t compare to how loud I have heard it inside Matthew Knight Arena at certain times last season for the Oregon Men’s team.  The Women also finished their non conference schedule on Sunday, finishing with two losses, one against the top team in the country in Connecticut. Westhead and company now head on the road to start the Pac 12 season and could face a rude awakening on January 3rd in Palo Alto and the Stanford Cardinal. Oregon then heads to Cal to take on the Bears on Sunday January 5th.

This seasons start is far better than last year when they were 2-9 to begin the year. Coach Westhead and his system are starting to work in Eugene. Winning games is a big key to bringing fans back to watch this team. I think they are also closer to being ranked if they continue earning victories, especially on the road. Oregon’s next home game is against Oregon State in a Civil War on Saturday January 11th.
