Oregon Softball (3-1) Led Early by Senior Courney Ceo, Easton Classic in Las Vegas Up Next

The Oregon Women’s Softball team only stumbled slightly to being the 2014 season. The Ducks lost their season opener in the Kajikawa Classic last Friday to Cal Poly by a score of 6-4. Following the loss it was three straight wins for Head Coach Mike White and the now #10 ranked team in the country. Oregon opened the season ranked 9th, but fell one spot for the loss. Now the Ducks head to Las Vegas for another tournament. The Easton Desert Classic kicks off on Friday morning.

Senior Infielder Courtney Ceo leads the charge early in the season for the Ducks. She leads the team with 19 at bats, and has 11 hits with 7 runs scored and is hitting .579. On the other side of the ball Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins had a rough start but has settled in. The Sophomore has a 5.40 ERA and has thrown 16 2/3 innings for the Ducks giving up 7 hits and 10 runs over the first four games of the year. Following the game against Toledo she had three consecutive wins and is 3-1 on the year.

The games this week run the same as last. There are two doubleheaders (Friday and Saturday) followed by a single game on Sunday. Oregon faces Toledo(9:00am PT) and UNLV(3:45 PT) on Friday, UT Chattanooga(11:15am PT) and Ohio State(3:45 PT) on Saturday, and close out the Easton Classic Sunday with Cal State Northridge(11:15am PT).
