It was a great start for Starting Pitcher Matt Krook in his Oregon debut on Sunday afternoon against Hawaii. The 35th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft (picked by the Florida Marlins) decided college was a better option than the pros. He showed solid stuff from the mound and went 7 inning giving up two unearned runs, five hits and striking out eight. He left the game with a 3-2 lead. Hawaii would take the lead in the 8th inning and for the second consecutive game a Duck rally was needed for the win.

Oregon found a way with pinch hitting. The Ducks picked up three pinch hits in the top of the 9th to tie the game and won it off a Hawaii error in the 10th with Senior Outfielder Tyler Baumgartner scored the go ahead run. Junior Jake Reed picked up the victory for the Ducks, the third in a row, throwing 2 1/3 innings with one hit and one strikeout. Milestones will be one of the storylines for the 2014 Oregon team.

One big milestone can be hit on Monday with a victory in the finale of the series with Hawaii. Oregon Head Coach George Horton needs one win to hit 900 wins in his College coaching career. Junior Jake Reed will take the mound for the Ducks Monday afternoon at 3:05pm PT. The game can be heard on 1320 AM in Eugene and online at GoDucks.com
