If there was a game this season that would cause Oregon Baseball coach George Horton some gray hairs it was the finale vs Loyola Marymount on Sunday. In the finale of the three game set Oregon would pull out the victory to remain undefeated on the 2014 season, now 7-0. Oregon picked up three runs in the third inning.

For the game three Ducks had two hits, Aaron Payne, Mitchell Tolman, and A.J. Balta each went 2-4. LMU tied the game in the fifth. Oregon Starting Pitcher Jordan Spencer gave up three runs in 4 1/3 innings. Sophomore Garrett Cleavinger pitched a perfect 8th and Closer Jake Reed, getting comfortable with his new role picked up his third save of the season.

The story of the game was the clutch plays from Oregon Freshman. Outfielder Austin Grebek led off the ninth inning with a leadoff double and found a way to third on an LMU pitching error. He scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Junior J.B. Bryant.

Oregon now comes home to the friendly confines of PK Park for several key series including a matchup with Coach Horton’s former team Cal State Fullerton this weekend. The Ducks home opener is Tuesday night vs Portland(6pm PT).
