When the weekend began for Oregon at PK Park there were high hopes that the Ducks and Titans would provide a look for this team for the season. In scheduling Cal State Fullerton this early in the season it could be a barometer for 2014 – and it was, but the Ducks are now looking down the barrel of a three game losing streak after being swept at PK Park. Oregon was ‘close’ on several occasions, but on Saturday a hit in the ninth came about five feet short. One can hope this will not be the story of the season for this team.

Saturday was more promising than Friday’s start by Tommy Thorpe, who gave up six runs. Freshman Matt Krook took to the mound on Saturday and went six innings striking out eight. Sunday saw Porter Clayton go 3 2/3 innings for Oregon with the bullpen getting some work. Oregon Reliever Stephen Nogosek was solid in three innings pitching scoreless baseball, but the Ducks would fall 5-3. Looking ahead Oregon may look back to this series. Their RPI will take a hit, especially if Cal State Fullerton continues winning.

Next up for Oregon a two game set with Seattle on Wednesday and Thursday before Ohio State, out of the Big 10 comes to town for a three game set next weekend. The Buckeyes are 7-3 on the year. The Ducks will be the tenth different team they have faced this season.

Oregon meets Seattle on Tuesday(6pm), and Wednesday(1pm) at PK Park.
