If you were among those at PK Park on Tuesday and were in it for the long haul, I congratulate you. Two games, encompassing 18 innings and a very long afternoon and evening. Entering the game both Seattle and the Ducks were in three game losing streaks. It was not a great start for the Ducks as Starting Pitcher Jeff Gold gave up a walk in the first inning, that led to a run. He would settle in pitching six inning giving up just the one run on two hits for the win. Gold is now 3-0 on the season. The other big story of Game 1 was the Oregon offense exploding for 10 runs. It all started with the bat of Senior Outfielder Tyler Baumgartner who hit a double and a triple in the first game of the two game set. For the double header he was 6 for 10. Infielder Mitchell Tolman was among several Ducks to have multi hit games vs the Redhawks. The Sophomore went 3 for 6 with two RBI’s for the series.

Game 2 was closer than Game 1, and once again Baumgartner came through with a clutch hit in the eighth inning. He was 3 for 5 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Tolman also continued in Game 2 going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Senior Closer Jake Reed picked up the victory after facing four batters and striking out two. The Ducks home stand continues later this week.

The Ducks welcome in Ohio State from the Big 10 Conference for a three game series this weekend. The Buckeyes face Oregon on Friday(6pm), Saturday(4pm), and Sunday(12 noon).
