PAC-12 Baseball Recap (March 3-9)

PAC-12 baseball continues to pick up steam as the second month of the season begins. Here’s how each team did last week by looking at with last Monday-Sunday.

March 3-9 Games

Arizona Wildcats (8-9) – Last Week 2-4: Lost to Long Beach State (Big West) 3-2, 11-4; Went 2-2 at the Hi Corbett Classic in Tucson beating Mississippi State (SEC) 12-3, UC Santa Barbara (Big West) 10-5 but lost 10-2 to UC Santa Barbara and 6-4 to Mississippi State

Arizona State State Sun Devils (7-6) – Last Week 1-2: Hosted Tennessee (SEC) won the opener 3-1 but lost the next two 6-5 and 6-4

California Golden Bears (10-5) – Last Week 2-3: Lost to Stanford 11-1 at home; Went 2-2 in the Cal Baseball Classic in Berkeley losing 10-5 to Tulane (CUSA), 1-0 San Francisco (WCC) before beating Arkansas (SEC) 4-3 and 2-1

Oregon Ducks (12-4) – Last Week 4-1: Played five games at home beginning with beating Seattle (WAC) 10-2 and 4-3 then hosted Ohio State (B1G) winning the series two games to one. The Ducks won the opener 8-2 before dropping game two 5-0 then won the finale 20-4

Oregon State Beavers (14-3) – Last Week 5-0: Like their in-state rivals they were at home the entire week. The Beavers started with a 5-0 win over Portland (WCC) before taking four from Northern Illinois (MAC) 6-0, 2-0 which Jace Fry threw a no-hitter, 12-2 and 10-0

Southern California Trojans (8-6) – Last Week 0-4: Played at UC Irvine (Big West) losing 6-4; took part in the Dogertown Classic in Los Angeles losing to Houston (AAC) 6-1, Pepperdine (WCC) 10-4 and UCLA 6-5

Stanford Cardinal (7-8) – Last Week 3-1: Won at Cal 11-1 which was head coach Mark Marquess 1,500 career win then took two of three against Kansas (Big XII) on the Farm. The Jayhawks won the opener 4-2 with the Cardinal winning 5-4 and 1-0 taking the series

UCLA Bruins (8-7) – Last Week 1-3: Started off with a 6-1 loss to Loyola Marymount (WCC); took part in the Dodgertown Classic losing 8-7 to Pepperdine (WCC), 4-3 against Houston (AAC) and closed out with a 6-5 at Southern California

Utah Utes (8-6) – Last Week 3-1: Lost 20-3 at BYU; Participated in the Hilton Invitational in Arlington, Texas going 3-0 against UT Arlington (Sun Belt) 5-3, Abilene Christian (Southland) 9-8 and 7-3 Missouri State (MVC)

Washington Huskies (10-4) – Last Week 4-0: Took part in the Jack Gifford Tournament in San Jose, CA going 4-0 on the weekend. The tournament took place in Santa Clara and San Jose, opened with a 6-4 win at Santa Clara (WCC), 7-0 at San Jose State (MWC) before closing with two more wins in Santa Clara versus Pacific (WCC) 4-1 and Santa Clara 9-1

Washington State Cougars (4-8) – Last Week 2-1: Hosted Texas State (Sun Belt) for three games winning two of the three games. The Cougars won 8-6 on Friday then with weather concerns played a Saturday double header splitting the games, won game one 4-3 before losing 5-3

Monday, March 10 – Utah at UT Arlington (Sun Belt)

Tuesday, March 11 – Air Force (MWC) at Arizona, Loyola Marymount (WCC) @ Southern California, Ohio State (B1G) at Oregon State, UC Irving (Big West) at UCLA

Wednesday, March 12 – Air Force (MWC) at Arizona, New Mexico (MWC) at Arizona State
