Today is a good day for Women’s Sports at the University of Oregon. This morning the Oregon Ducks introduced the new Women’s Basketball Coach in Former Gonzaga Head Coach Kelly Graves. Shortly after the announcement the Oregon Softball team earned their first #1 ranking in school history. The Oregon Softball team took two of three against then #1 UCLA this past weekend at Howe Field in Eugene. Oregon is now 34-5 on the season and in the drivers seat. The Bruins fell two spots to #3 in the latest USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll.

Following last week’s 5-1 record vs UCLA(the Ducks took two of three from the Bruins over the weekend), and a sweep over UC Santa Barbara the team seems to be on a roll and the Pac-12 has even taken notice. Senior Kailee Cuico was named the Conference player of the week. She hit three home runs and was responsible for 12 RBIs during the week. Cuico now has 161 RBI’s good enough to be the Ducks Career Leader in the category. She went 6 for 13 and hit .462 against both the Bruins and UC Santa Barbara.

The Oregon Ducks Softball team now heads to Corvallis for a three game series with Oregon State this weekend. Saturday’s game is slated for 2pm, Game 2 is Sunday at 2 and the series finale is Monday at 3pm. Games two and three of the series will be on the Pac-12 Network.
