The Oregon Ducks Football team continues preparation for the 2014 season and as they enter the final week of Spring Practice leading up to the annual Spring Game on Saturday May 3rd, leaders have started to emerge for what this team may look like come Fall. One key returning piece of the Oregon Defensive puzzle is Cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu who decided to return to the Oregon Ducks for his Senior season rather than taking a shot at the NFL following last season.
Olomu spoke about the decision to remain with the Oregon Ducks as some of his former teammates are now preparing for the NFL Draft next month, “When I first made the decision I thought about it. I’m happy to be here and become a better player.” As far as the final Spring Practice of his Oregon Ducks Career he said he’s learning more than in the past, “I think its been going great so far. I feel like as a defensive backfield we’ve been able to advance our knowldege of the defense, I guess you could say your coaches have us prepared for this year.” The Oregon Ducks have game experience at the position including Olomu, Erick Dargan and Troy Hill, “Its going to be competitive from the corners to the safeties. Coaches will play the best four guys. It’s really a competition for everybody. There’s guys waiting in the wings that are just as capable as any other player out there.”
The best words of leadership he shared were the simplest and can apply to the Spring game and the upcoming season, “Don’t become complacent and just try to get better.” Olomu is entering his Senior season with the Ducks and should be a key play maker for the 2014 season.
The Oregon Ducks Spring Game takes place on Saturday, May 3rd at 11am at Autzen Stadium. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. AutzenZoo will have full coverage.
