Oregon Football Recruiting: 2014 Commit RB Taj Griffin’s Brother, Georgia Tech QB Ty Coming West?

News broke over the weekend that the Oregon Ducks may be in line to get another Griffin. If you have been following recruiting last month 4-star Running Back Taj Griffin committed to Oregon and now his brother, Ty, the third string Quarterback for Georgia Tech is considering a transfer. Several other members of the 2013 recruiting class for the Yellow Jackets are already looking at leaving the program. If it is true that Griffin is looking to depart Georgia Tech, I would say that Oregon is a possibility.

Of course one big reason, his brother has committed to play here. Would it be a good thing for the Oregon Ducks were he to decide to come to Eugene. Matt Prehm from Duck Territory says that Ty visited Eugene and the University of Oregon during the Spring Game over the weekend. I would say the timing seems almost perfect as the Ducks will need more competition at the position heading into the 2015 season with Starting Quarterback Marcus Mariota heading to the NFL. As the third string Signal Caller with Georgia Tech there may not be much of an opportunity.

Yahoo Sports! ranked Quarterback Ty Griffin as a two star athlete out of high school and Oregon would be a good fit with his brother in the fold. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the coming months. The Oregon Ducks Coaching staff could make a world of difference for Griffin, and if he decides to transfer they will likely have some time to work with him for the 2015 season. Right now there are three quarterbacks vowing for the backup position with the Oregon Ducks and (Ty) would likely have to sit out a year following the ‘transfer rule’.

The Oregon Ducks Spring Game was over the weekend and Marcus Mariota showed no ill effects from last season. The Regular Season starts on August 30th against South Dakota at Autzen Stadium.
