Oregon Softball Named Top Seed in NCAA Tournament

Oregon Softball hosts Utah Valley at Howe Field. KPNWSports

The Oregon Ducks Softball team has shown their dominance in the sport this season and have earned the top spot for the NCAA Tournament that begins in full force this weekend. From starting the year playing in tournaments, and facing a top ranked Florida team at the time and losing, this team has earned every victory and in some cases set what feels like a record time for a game to be played in more than one circumstance. Starting Pitching has been top notch with Oregon Ducks Sophomore Cheridan Hawkins leading the charge.

The Oregon Ducks are the #1 Seed for the first time in school history, as the team as marked several firsts this season, including being ranked #1 in the USA Softball and NFSA polls five weeks ago, a place they have not relinquished in that time. Head Coach Mike White now prepares for a regional to be hosted at Howe Field this weekend. Oregon will welcome three teams to Eugene for a round of double elimination.

The Oregon Ducks will host Utah Valley, who the Ducks swept on a doubleheader two weeks ago, Wisconsin, and Albany. The weekend NCAA Round was not picked up for National televison, but according to GoDucks.com, the Pac-12 Network is working on securing coverage from Howe Field this weekend.
