Oregon Baseball takes on Arizona at PK Park, KPNWSports
The Oregon Ducks Baseball team is currently on a five game winning streak and as they continue to push toward the post season there is one obstacle left in the regular season. A three game series with the California Golden Bears starting on Thursday at home in the friendly confines of PK Park. This has been a season of milestones of the team, including several by Head Coach George Horton with earning 200 wins as the Oregon Ducks coach and picking up his 700th Division I victory. There is also another milestone on the horizon on Friday for Starting Pitcher Jeff Gold.
Gold is currently tied with former Oregon Ducks Starter Alex Keudell for the most wins in an Oregon uniform. He can be sole owner of that record with a victory Friday night. The Starter was the Sunday pitcher in the lineup until Matt Krook was lost for the season with Tommy John Surgery and he then moved to Saturdays where he thrived to a 9-1 record on the year. Throughout his career as a player for the Oregon Ducks he has had his ups and downs, but to get to this point is something special.
This weekend is also a celebration for the Seniors who will be likely playing their final games at PK Park, unless they are selected to host in the post season, which could happen, but I am not sure the team has done enough to earn it.
Gold is among the Seniors on this year’s team along with sixth year man Pitchers Darrell Hunter, and Starter Brando Tessar along with Second Baseman Aaron Payne, and Outfielder Tyler Baumgartner. The three game series with Cal starts Thursday and continues Friday and Saturday. All three games start at 7pm PT and are broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
