Oregon Drops Game vs Cal, Gold Denied All Time Wins Mark in Loss
The Oregon Ducks lost to the Cal Bears on Friday night at PK Park. May 23rd/KPNWSports
The Oregon Ducks Baseball team had a six game winning streak snapped on Friday night thanks to brilliant pitching from Cal Bears Starter Kyle Porter who kept the Ducks guessing all night. The Bears offense jumped on Gold early and often in a 6-0 victory. It was not the Oregon Starting Pitchers night to break to the top of the record books for all-time wins in an Oregon uniform as Gold threw five and one third innings giving up four earned runs and striking out one in the loss. The Oregon Ducks Senior will have at least one more opportunity to set the mark in the postseason, but the team’s chances of playing at home were slim at best before the loss on Friday. If it happens it will likely be on the road.
Offensively the Oregon Ducks sputtered to a handful of hits which started in the sixth inning when Mark Karaviotis stopped a string of sixteen batters being sat down by the dominant Porter. Oregon finishes the regular season on Saturday against Cal and will await their post season assignment which will be announced on Monday early in the day.
The finale vs the Cal Bears is tonight at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
