Oregon Ducks Non-Conference Schedule Released, South Dakota Enters Autzen at Night

The 2014 College Football season is getting closer and yesterday the University of Oregon announced start times for the Non Conference slate that includes games with South Dakota, Michigan State, and Wyoming. They are touting it as ‘Something for Everyone’. I’m not so sure. Last season the Oregon Ducks, as well as the rest of the Pac-12 were under criticism for the number of night games, over thirty games happened in 2013. Word was they were looking to cut down the number of these games, but in some instances tv contracts got in the way as well as time slots and availability.

It looks like the upcoming season won’t start out well for the Oregon Ducks in this instance as the first game against South Dakota will be played on Saturday August 30th with a 7:30pm kickoff time on the Pac-12 Networks. The following week against Michigan State is easier to swallow with a 3:30pm kick on FOX. The game with the Spartans will get plenty of national attention and may possibly warrant an early season visit from ESPN’s College Gameday, but that remains to be seen. The final non conference game with Wyoming goes in the opposite direction.

Fans coming from Portland won’t be very happy with this one either as the kickoff is an early one at 11am on Pac-12 Networks. The rest of the Conference schedule will be released at a later date, and of course there will be several holes to fill in and change throughout the season. For now, we can settle in and know that Oregon will have at least two night games at Autzen (South Dakota, Arizona, Thursday, October 2nd) and one away on a Friday night October 24th at Cal.(7:30pm PT, Fox Sports)

The Oregon Ducks kick off the 2014 season at home against South Dakota, again, at 7:30pm PT on Pac-12 Networks.
