The Oregon Ducks Baseball team, if they had won all three games last weekend vs Cal at PK Park may have had the opportunity to be playing games at home right now, in the friendly confines of PK Park. However after their bats vs the Golden Bears went silent as they were outhit twenty five to ten in the series they took to the road to Nashville to take on Clemson on Friday afternoon. Vanderbilt, the host of the opening round of the NCAA Tournament beat Xavier in the first game on Friday.

Oregon wasted no time in taking their bats with them to take out the Tigers. Tyler Baumgartner finished three for six with a home run, two RBI’s and three runs scored in the 18-1 route of the Clemson Tigers. Oregon Starter Tommy Thorpe was in early season form throwing sesven innings, giving up just one run and five walks, but it was the Offense for the Oregon Ducks that was the story.

George Horton’s team took Clemson to the woodshed with twenty hits in the game. Catcher Shaun Chase hit a three run home run, followed by Baungartner’s one run blast. The Oregon Ducks took a three run lead into the third inning and over the next three innings pounded out fifteen runs. Oregon had eleven batters see the plate in the fifth inning leading to the start of an unforgettable afternoon of baseball for the team that finished fourth in the Pac-12 Conference for the regular season. Now, they look  to take that Offensive firepower to Vanderbilt on Saturday,

Oregon faces the Commodores at 5pm PT Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
