The Oregon Ducks Softball team was on a roll, winning five in a row at home at Howe Field before heading to Oklahoma City. Oregon took care of business in the opening round against Florida State as Starter Cheridan Hawkins pitched a one hitter in a 3-0 Oregon win. On Saturday, the story changed when the Oregon Ducks met Florida in the next round. The outcome would have Mike White’s team playing catchup on Saturday.

Hawkins and the team would lose to Florida 4-0 as the Gators Ace Starter Hannah Rogers limited the Oregon Ducks to just three hits. The top team in the country has lost twice to the Florida Gators this season, having also met them in an early season tournament, losing that game 2-1. Oregon Head Coach Mike White on the loss, ““Florida played well defensively, pitched well and made the most of their opportunities at bat,” said head coachMike White. “I’m certainly going to be happy now that (Arizona State’s) Dallas Escobedo and Hannah Rogers are both graduating. They have certainly been a pain in my butt the last few years. They have pitched well.” Oregon will regroup and play an elimination game on Saturday night against either Louisiana-Lafayette or Oklahoma. Third Baseman Courtney Ceo hit a milestone in the loss.

Ceo had her one-hundredth hit on the season and was gracious in her accomplishement, “ Thank you. I had no idea, but thank you. She was giving me similar pitches throughout my at-bat, the same sequence. I just knew that I had to hit a pitch early in the count so I didn’t get behind and just, you know, looked for that outside pitch she was giving me. And that’s the one I ended up hitting.”.

The elimination game on Saturday vs Louisiana-Lafayette or Oklahoma will be broadcast on ESPN(6:30pm PT).
