When your the number one team in the nation, one thing that is almost expected of you is the ability to overcome adversity and to find a way to win. The Oregon Ducks have not been in the backs against the wall’ situation very much this season, but with their dreams of a continuing season in the balance Cheridan Hawkins showed some grit and Karissa Hovinga threw some heat in order for the dream season to continue for the Oregon Softball team.

The number one team in the country shot out of the gate in an elimination game against Okahoma on Saturday night in Oklahoma City(pretty much a home game for Oklahoma) in scoring three runs, two when Kailee Cuoco hit a double off the shortstop. Oregon would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh, but the Sooners would not make it easy for the Oregon Ducks. Hawkins gave a up a homerun making it 4-3. Oregon Head Coach Mike White would do some shuffling with his pitchers. Junior Karissa Hovinga would enter in the seventh to get the first two outs, although it wasn’t easy before Hawkins re entered to get the final out and move the Oregon Ducks one step closer. Now they have to face the number two seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, which could prove a tough task after taking out the defending National Champs in the Sooners.

The Oregon Ducks must win two games today over Alabama to advance to the Championship Series. Game one is slated for 12:30pm PT on ESPN. If Oregon picks up the win, Game two will start at 6:30pm PT. Winner moves to the final best of three for the National Championship.
