2014 Oregon Football, Eleven Impact Players: Kicker Matt Wogan

Special Teams has been an area of strength for the Oregon Ducks, but of late they have not had much need for the position of Kicker. Alejandro Maldonado has now graduated and after a somewhat lackluster Freshman campaign now Sophomore Matt Wogan had the chance to prove himself as the Oregon Ducks placekicker. Of course, Maldonado will be remembered for the ‘clank heard around Autzen’ and we can hope that when Wogan is under pressure he can come through. His Freshman year had some growing pains and some misses.

More from Oregon Ducks

In the 2014 season he could have a chance to prove himself early with an early matchup with Michigan State that could give Oregon some matchup problems, it is possible that points may be at a premium. It could come to field goal kicks again on November 2nd against Stanford in Eugene, a key matchup in the Pac-12 Conference in 2014. With everything at stake and a shot at the first College Football Playoff there will  be plenty to cheer for for Oregon fans.

Matt Wogan is now squarely in the spotlight and has the opportunity to make a shadow of his own inside Autzen Stadium. All it will take is a game winning kick to go through the uprights.
