Oregon Softball: Infielder Hailey Decker Comes Home to Play for Oregon Ducks

It was announced late this week that the Oregon Ducks Softball team has picked up a familiar name. Junior Hailey Decker is an Oregon native. Last season she played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and in 2013 was in intergral part of sending the Oregon Ducks Softball team home on their own field during the NCAA Tournament. Now, she has made the move from the Cornhuskers and will join Oregon for the next two seasons. The NCAA Transfer rule, common in other sports does not apply to Softball so Decker will be eligible to play immediately and could make an impact for the Oregon Ducks in 2015.

She showed power last season in hitting .369 on the year, along with 14 home runs she had 21 doubles and 53 RBI’s. Last season she played in all sixty two games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers out of the Big 10 and has showed her durability on the field over the first two seasons of her career. Decker ranked second in the Big 10 last season in batting average and runs scored. She hit .443 against Conference foes in 2014. She will likely play second base for the Oregon Ducks in 2015.
