Bovada Predicts Winston over Mariota for Heisman Trophy in 2014

When you are at the helm of the number one team in the country, things sometimes fall your way. To start the 2014 season the reigning National Champion Florida State Seminoles are the top ranked team in the country and on Tuesday Bovada predicted that Starting Quarterback Jameis Winston was at the top of the pack to win the Heisman Trophy in 2014 as a 9/2 favorite, ahead of his competition of Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota and Ohio State Signal caller Jameis Winston.

Mariota, who spend part of last season injured, but played in losses to Arizona and Stanford, both on the road enters the 2014 season healthy and a 6/1 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2014. Miller has fallen off the map somewhat from earlier predictions that had him closer to Mariota. He now is listed at 15/2 odds clearly making the race to the award for the top quarterback in the country a two man race. In a season where Florida State and Oregon could potentially meet in the College Football Playoff wins will come at a premium and when your the key player that makes your team go, the added pressure for both Winston and Mariota will clearly be evident throughout the season.

The Oregon Ducks started Fall Practice on Monday with Media Day where Mariota is ready to begin the 2014 campaign with confidence. The Ducks kick off 2014 on Saturday, August 30th. (7:30pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks)
