Oregon Volleyball Starts 4-0 on the Season, Face Hawaii Friday Night

The Oregon Ducks Women’s Volleyball team is on a roll in the early season. After entering the 2014 season just outside the Top 25, the team is now into the Top 25 rankings at 22nd in the country and on a four game winning streak after defeating St. John’s on Thursday night in Hawaii.

On Thursday, away from the friendly confines of Matthew Knight Arena, Oregon was off to a quick start in the first set starting 10-3. St John’s made it interesting in the second set evening the match at 20-20 before the Oregon Ducks responded and won the set 3-1 . Employing new faces over the last few seasons the team from Oregon has answered an early season test. The team entered the match hitting .295 and holding opponents to a .101 average. Not a bad start to a season for any team.

Over the first four games the Oregon Ducks have been led by four different players. On the night Oregon had fourteen team blocks, holding St John’s to a .094 hitting percentage. The Ducks now take on Hawaii on Friday night at 10:30pm Pacific Time. The game is not televised, but can be seen here.

Following the game with the Rainbow Warriors the Oregon Ducks face New Mexico on Saturday before returning home to Matthew Knight Arena next weekend to take on two Big Ten schools in Michigan and Michigan State.
