Oregon Ducks Volleyball Falls in Four Sets at #1 Stanford

When the Oregon Ducks started their season I don’t think they thought they would be 11-0 entering the game with Stanford on Friday night in the early part of the Pac-12 Conference season. Over the years Stanford has become a powerhouse in Women’s Volleyball, among other sports and just a few weeks ago toppled then number one Penn State to take over the top spot. The Oregon Ducks played a tough game against the Cardinal.

More from Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks started the first set strong, but lost the set in the end as Stanford mounted a comeback to take it 25-23. Oregon never led in the second set, but took the third after another strong start before losing the fourth set and the match. For several players it was the first time with the pressure of a top ranked opponent and a loud crowd. Oregon was held to their lowest hitting percentage of the year at .235. The Oregon Ducks had good numbers on the night.

Martenne Bettendorf had the highest hit percentage of the night at .448 to go along with fourteen kills. Amanda Benson led both teams with a team high twenty digs.

The Oregon Ducks road trip continues on Sunday as the team visits Cal for an 11 am Pacific Time start before returning home next weekend to take on Washington State and Washington.
