Preseason Bracketology: Oregon Ducks Start Season as an ‘In’ Team

The 2014 College Basketball season begins today for the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Kntght Arena. Dana Altman has seen his team through two exhibition wins entering the season and both games Oregon scored over one-hundred points. The real competition begins today. Before the season starts Joe Lunardi, ESPN’s Bracketologist has an early look at what teams could make the field of sixty-eight for the 2015 NCAA Tournament and the Oregon Ducks are among the six Pac-12 teams that are considered ‘in’ before the season begins.

As it stands right now Oregon is listed as a twelve seed in his preseason edition of Bracketology. (East Region facing SMU in the Second Round) The top seeds should be of no surprise with Pac-12 favorite Arizona leading the pack to go with Kentucky, Wisonsin from the Big Ten, and Duke. The Oregon Ducks will have opportunities to show they belong this season, but I don’t think it will begin that way for Oregon. The team leader, Joseph Young does not have a lot to prove, but needs to show he can perform on the court with a few familiar faces in Jalil Abdul-Bassit and Elgin Cook. There are plenty of new faces to go around this season.

Freshman Ahmaad Rorie and Dillon Brooks lead a team looking to rebuild from off the court issues that ended the Oregon Careers from several talented players including Brandon Austin, Damyean Dotson, and Dominic Artis stemming from a well reported sexual assault case from last May. Oregon is looking to move forward and the season begins tonight.

Oregon welcomes the Coppin State Eagles to Matthew Knight Arena at 9pm Pacific Time on the Pac-12 Networks. AutzenZoo will have Live Coverage of the game starting at 8:30pm.
