Mariota Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of The Year
The Oregon Ducks are 11-1 on the season and while many teams in the Pac-12 Conference are awaiting bowl invitations, others are preparing to meet this week in Santa Clara. Oregon and Arizona will meet in the Pac-12 Championship Game and on Tuesday the Conference announced the winners of several awards including Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota won Offensive Player of the Year and Scooby Wright from Arizona, a team that Oregon will face this week, was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Freshman Offensive Player of the Year Honors went to Oregon Running Back Royce Freeman who became the first true freshman in Oregon History to rush for over one-thousand yards in a season.
Mariota threw for over thirty-four hundred yards for thirty six touchdowns this season. He also ran for eleven touchdowns including two last weekend in the Civil War against Oregon State. The Junior Quarterback is also expected to be among those invited to New York City and have a chance at winning the Heisman Trophy on December 13th.
Arizona Head Coach Rich Rodriguez was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. �Oregon is preparing this week to face Arizona in Santa Clara at Levi’s Stadium on Friday Night. Kickoff is set for 6pm Pacific Time on FOX.
