However Head Coach Dana Altman also recruited some big pieces to help including Freshman Dillon Brooks who had a breakout game on Sunday against Illinois on the road.

Brooks led the team in points with twenty-four in a key NCAA Tournament Resume win for Oregon 77- 70 against the Illini. The Oregon Ducks shot forty-six percent from the floor on the night. Young did not start for the first time this season and had just eight points before halftime. He finished the game with fifteen points. The Oregon Ducks bench was not very effective against Illinois, but they did not have to be.

In the game Illinois built as much as a thirteen point lead against Oregon. With just over eight minutes left the Illini had an eight point lead which Oregon would takeover with just over two minutes left in the game and would hang on for the win.

Elgin Cook, Dwayne Benjamin and Ahmaad Rorie combined for thirty-four points in the win. Oregon continues the non-conference schedule and hosts Cal State Northridge on Wednesday at 8pm at Matthew Knight Arena. (Pac-12 Networks).
