Dana Altman is not messing around. When it comes to finding talent to fill any sort of hole on the Oregon Men’s Basketball team the Head Coach always finds a way to make it work. It was announced on Tuesday evening that the team had signed a new transfer from the Israeli Junior National Team.

Eighteen year old Roman Sorkin out of Belarus will be a Freshman this season and eligible to play immediately. Oregon has done well so far this season at 11-3, but has had some injuries to deal with including one to Jalil Abdul-Bassit and more notably to Michael Chandler, who has yet to finish a full practice coming off knee surgery in February according to Altman.

According to the release from the University of Oregon, The 6-10 forward from Minsk, Belarus, averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game for Israel at the 2014 U-18 European Championships. He shot 51.7 percent from the field and 81.2 percent from the free throw line during the tournament.

It is not clear when Sorkin will see the court. This week Oregon has their biggest test of the season on Thursday night against a top ten ranked Arizona team. (7:30pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks)
