Oregon Ducks Win Third Straight, Chase Hits a Grand Slam

The Oregon Ducks have shown so far through five games this season that they can come through in the clutch to win games, specifically in the later innings which could be important when the Pac-12 part of the schedule begins. Oregon has won three games in a row and two straight at home at PK Park against New Mexico State. The win on Friday night saw the home team scoring the final eight runs of the game win and winning 11-3.

The Ducks and Aggies managed three runs a piece for a 3-3 tie in five innings before Oregon began their takeover of the basepads. On the night Oregon worked ten walks. J.B. Bryant also added a run by stealing home in the seventh inning and Oregon never looked back. Oregon exploded in the eighth inning with a grand slam from Shaun Chase, who also had a key homerun in the season home opener on Thursday night.

In his debut at PK Park Freshman David Peterson gave up two earned runs in seven and a third innings. After Conor Harber’s two game shutout performance the Ducks turned to Reliever Josh Graham who has a ninety-five mile per hour fastball that he used to his advantage to pick up his first win of the season against New Mexico State.

Oregon will play the third game of the series with the Aggies Saturday at 2pm and the finale is set for Sunday at Noon.
